Four Tactics For Drumming Up Business During a Recession

Recession? Hah!

That’s the attitude you’ll have when you know how to bring new customers in, despite all your competitors wailing about being dead in the water. People and companies have not completely stopped spending. They’re just much more selective and risk-averse in what they buy.

If you use these four smart recession-fighting strategies, you’ll emerge from the recession just fine.

Four Recession-Be-Darned Marketing Tactics

1. Have a risk-free introductory offer. For example, 1AutomationWiz.com, the online shopping cart I use, offers a free 30-day trial. You sign up, set up the cart and can use it for real transactions without having to pay until the 30th day. (By then, you’re hooked!) As a variation on this theme, Changing Course initially charges just $13.55 shipping on its $297 Fast Track Your Dream program. They ship the materials, then begin charging the program fee on day 30. The buyer can ship everything back before day 30, then not be charged. For a non-monthly service, you can get the customer’s credit card information or check up front, but promise not to charge the card or to return the check if the customer isn’t happy.

2. Develop and sell information products. Information products offer a low-risk, low-commitment way for new customers to get to know, then trust a vendor company. You can sell them to do-it-yourselfers who might not spring for full service as well as to regular customers who want to learn about a new topic area. Not only do the information products provide an additional stream of revenue during the recession, they will continue to do so after the economy picks up again (as it inevitably will) with no additional work. To get products ready for sale within weeks, start small, as with short downloadable reports or audio recordings of expert interviews.

3. Catch their pulse. What do your customers need most right now? Put your ear to the ground. Listen in on your target market’s complaints, questions and wishes where they hang out on email discussion lists and web-based forums. Based on what you hear, add a new product or service or twist an existing one so it clearly connects with their concerns. Let’s say that on the financial forums you see more questions than usual from couples nearing retirement or parents with more than one child in college. You could quickly create seminars, reports or telephone hotline hours specifically for those groups.

4. Pursue publicity. Getting media coverage can be as quick as picking up the phone and calling the news desk of your metropolitan newspaper or TV station to explain why you’re the local angle to today’s big story. Invest a little time to understand what constitutes newsworthiness in the eyes of the media, and pitch your company or yourself in pitch letters and press releases. During a recession, you may have a better shot at earning 15 priceless minutes of fame because competitors may have scaled back on the retainer for their PR firm. Find a cost-effective compromise between writing your own releases and hiring someone to do it for you by Googling “press release makeover service.”

Close your ears to those running around complaining that the sky is falling, and instead get to work implementing these recession-smart strategies. You’ll look back on the era of gloom and doom with a smile on your face and a nice fat bankroll in your pocket.

Simple Ways to Improve Your Cold Calling Skills

In today’s business world, cold calling is often times a necessity with which to build up your customer base whether already operating a successful business or just starting one. Many sales people and business proprietors, at some time in their careers, experience challenges and problems with the part of their business which deals with telemarketing. Apply these tips for cold calling properly and effectively and you will become a successful telemarketer in no time.

Know what your purpose is when cold calling.

If you know what your purpose is when cold calling in advance, you will develop into a successful telemarketer in no time. This is because you will have a purpose for your calls. For example, are you trying to send someone information? Figure out who makes the decisions in this company? Are you trying to pitch services and products? Are you trying to conduct a survey? So you see, knowing in advance what you need to communicate is important. It will also make you more confident about cold calling and as we all know, confidence will win mindshare which is exactly what sales is about in the first place.

Just like the Boy Scouts, you need to be prepared.

Amazingly, knowing what your script is seems to be one of telemarketing’s best-kept secrets. Since cold calling is all about numbers, you can skew them in your favor when fully prepared for cold calling. Being both controlling with your message and confident in your intent will make the prospect feel like you are very professional and then would be more than willing to take a closer look at your service or product. Knowing what your message is cold, instead of reading directly from a script like a robot, will save you from constantly hearing dial tones as prospect after prospect hangs up on you.

When telemarketing, be as efficient as possible.

Cold calls are called this for a good reason. Before answering your call, the prospect was already engaged in something else. You need to make them understand that you are respectful of your time and theirs. Project some confidence and get right to your point. Really, if it makes you feel better, walk around whilst smiling. Your overall tone and enthusiasm will improve and will be transferred to the prospect to make them excited about your services or products.

Be both interesting and interested when cold calling.

Prospects are becoming immune to sales pitches. Whilst calling one, capture their attention by using power words that spark their interest and then get the prospect to talk more about themselves. Begin to make notations about what they are saying and try to weave that information into the reason you called them. Prospects will care more about what your services or products are when they can envision how it will work in their life.

The prospects should want to call you back.

Getting a voicemail shouldn’t be a dead end. Many opportunities are lost when telemarketers don’t leave voice mail messages for the prospects they call. Leave your number and name so they can call you back. Then, ask them to write it down on paper. This is because people will write down numbers if dictated to and anticipate that your number may be useful to them. You then need to give them a very compelling answer about why you called them and then another compelling reason for the prospect to get back in touch with you. Be confident but do not be slick or try to oversell yourself. Again, leave your number and name in case they missed it the first time.

Cold calling is a tough row to hoe, indeed. You will field many more no responses than yes responses. This is O.K. though because remember that every no will bring you even closer to another yes and that focusing on transmitting the enthusiasm you have for your services or products into each call you make you will already be a successful telemarketer even before saying, “Hello!”

PPC Censorship Propaganda and Free Speech

Authors write articles not for just one person to read, or one web page to locate it, or one blog or directory to distribute it. In fact no matter what media is chosen, publish means the same thing – to announce, broadcast, circulate, distribute, issue, notify, print, proclaim, propagate, report, spread, tell, etc. So, what’s the idea behind the advice, alarm, caution, threats, warning, and in some cases penalties for duplicate or unwanted content?

Culturally, anything that censors or suppresses the communication of ideas ends up promoting or propagating a narrower or very particular point of view by exclusion. Every country, religion, organization, and web site uses censorship and propaganda to filter or censure unwanted information. However, in most cases, the boundaries and limits are clear and alternatives are available.

Sears, Wal-Mart, temple, mosque, church, synagogue, democrat, republican, communist, independent, you name it, you want it, you got it, and most importantly by choice. Nevertheless, to make that choice you must also have access to the information, articles, papers, books, rules, regulations, you know, the propaganda and censorship. So where does that place search engine policy and terms of service (TOS) in the information landscape.

We know that authors want to be published as far and wide and deep as possible but are limited by what web publishers are willing and able to do. Publishing free is not good business if money to run an operation is part of the plan. Therefore, advertisers typically pay publishers for referrals.

Enter the brokers who operate search engines that organize networks of advertisers and publishers. No matter what you search for, where you go, there it is, relevant information, contextual advertising, and a transaction model that supports advertiser, publisher, and search engine broker. At least that’s the theory.

Reality significantly differs. How do writers get paid – few dollars here and there from a few hard to find directories for each unique article? The math would suggest that for every $100 earned at $5 per article, an output of 20 articles at the rate of about 3 articles per hour would be a 7-hour day’s work. To write a unique keyword relevant article every 20 minutes for 7 hours each day does not appear to be a culturally rewarding, economical feasible or compelling way to earn or supplement an income.

One technical solution to the problem of quantity is article spinning, a search engine optimization technique by which blog or website owners attempt to manipulate their rank on organic search engine results. It works by replacing elements of articles plagiarized from other websites to avoid being penalized for duplication.

At this point indicators of censorship in the form of penalties for page rank and publisher competition for traffic is suppressed by claiming an act of plagiarism. Now if plagiarism is copying someone’s ideas, text or other creative work and claiming it as one’s own, it doesn’t quite fit the real or perceived reason for censorship or penalty.

For example, some authors spin their articles for unique content to be distributed through article directories that in turn feed publishers content where ads are placed and clicks directed to advertisers. In this case, the author, publisher and advertiser work together to capture leads to convert them into readers for the author, clicks for the publisher and customers for the advertiser.

The capture rate is a percentage of visitors who enter a site and the conversion rates are those visitors who take action while at the site. The best-case scenario is the article is read, the ad is clicked, and a sale is made. Now there is no such thing as perfect capture or conversion and the rates in every case vary. Click below to learn the techniques to overcome PPC censorship.

How to Increase Traffic by Obtaining Sills to Write For Search Engines and Humans

Writing for search engines is important if you want your website to have a high ranking on other sites like Google, MSN, and Yahoo! It isn’t like writing for books and magazines. You need to choose a keyword if you want to attract people to your website.

Although search engines (SE’s) aren’t human, they are able to scan the content on your website and determine whether or not it would be valuable to the Internet users who do keyword searches. If you don’t learn the three golden rules of writing for SE’s, your website will not be nearly as successful as it could be.

#1 Choose a Keyword Phrase

When writing for SE’s, the first thing you will need to do is choose a keyword or keyword phrase. The keyword should be related to the content on your website. For example, a good keyword phrase for a website about dog walking would be “dog leash.” The keyword should also be relevant to the content you are writing for SE’s. You wouldn’t want to choose “dog leash” as the content keyword if you are writing a website article about the best places to walk a dog.

#2 Think Structure When Writing for Search Engines

Structure is an essential element when writing for search engines. If your content isn’t structured properly, it won’t do well in the rankings. You can increase usability by keeping content short–somewhere between 250 and 600 words is best. You can always link to additional pages on your website if you think readers will need more info.

#3 Don’t Write for Search Engines Alone

As important as writing for search engines is, it won’t get you anywhere if you don’t also consider your website visitors. Humans don’t want to see content that is keyword stuffed. When they visit your website, they will expect to see valuable information and answers to their questions. If all you can provide is a keyword, they will go elsewhere. Keeping this in mind when you write for (S.E’s.) will ensure that you don’t sound spammy.

Writing for Search Engines

Now that you have learned the golden rules we can now discuss the 4 primary considerations when writing your article. Now we will discuss the 4 considerations which are SEO, keywords, links and most of all quality content.

Writing for search engines can be difficult at first, particularly if you have no idea what it is a search engine looks for in a web site or an article. Before you begin worrying that you will never begin to build traffic this way, you should know that it is not as hard as most people think it is.

As mentioned earlier search engines aren’t human, but writing for them is similar to writing for human readers. All you have to do is determine what the search engine wants and provide it. Like human readers, search engines will reward your efforts by sending visitors your way. These referrals are key if you want to increase traffic to your web site.

There are lots of different ways to increase traffic on your web site. You can blog, advertise your web site, promote content on social media sites…tlst goes on and on. But if you want to build traffic through search engines, there is only one way to go about it: you must begin writing for search engines.

Writing for Search Engines: SEO

Developing an SEO (search engine optimization) strategy that you can use consistently is a good place to start when you want to increase traffic on your web site. When you optimize a page for a search engine, you are forced to consider how search engines work and what they are looking for. If you aren’t familiar with using SEO to build traffic, you should make every attempt to research the topic. An intimate knowledge of SEO is essential when writing for search engines.

Writing for Search Engines: Keywords

Choosing the right keywords for your content is also important when writing for search engines. Well-chosen keywords can increase your search engine ranking, which will automatically build traffic for your web site. You should choose at least one targeted keyword for each page. For best results, the keyword should be popular but have limited competition.

Writing for Search Engines: Links

When writing for search engines, it can be tempting to concentrate on keywords alone and forget about the importance of adding links to your content. This is a huge mistake. Outgoing links are an easy way to increase traffic on your web site. When you link to other sites, you add value for users and invite other sites to link back to you.

Writing for Search Engines: Quality Content

Creating high quality content is essential if you want to increase traffic on your web site. This is true whether you are writing for search engines or writing for humans. Although search engines look for keywords and links, what they care about most is quality content.

If the content on your web site doesn’t provide valuable information to people who are typing requests into search engines, there is no chance that your web site will appear toward the top of a search engine’s rankings. If you forget everything else you have read here today, remember that when you are writing for search engines. It is a guaranteed way to increase traffic on your web site.

4 Major Advantages of Making Money Online That No One Can Resist

For anyone who has ever considered the possibility of making money online, you won’t have a problem listing the benefits and advantages of an online business opportunity.

Much as been written about the advantages of making money online as opposed to depending on a regular job for your household income. By cutting out the time and effort you had to spend just getting to and from your outside job, you may add up to several hours each day to your schedule. This may be the equivalent of a full day’s work and pay in the course of a work week. You will be able to reduce many of your expenses, especially those related to transportation costs. You are answerable only to yourself, not to a boss having a bad hair day and you can increase the income by doing more projects, or by choosing projects that pay at a higher rate.

Time

One of the primary benefits of making money online is the ability to spend time working that you would have otherwise spent traveling to and from work. Depending upon how far you live from your corporate work place, you can spend up to three or even four hours daily just traveling to get to your work site. When you work at home online, the time that was wasted in traveling can be used to generate income for you and your family. In addition, you have none of the physical and mental stress of commuting. You simply complete your usual morning activities and within a matter of minutes you can be sitting down and ready for the day’s online activities.

Cost of living

When you are making money online, the cost of living won’t go down, but the expenses of daily living are certain to drop. In these days of rising fuel prices, money for transportation costs and parking costs can have a significant impact on your household budget. Imagine being able to get to work by walking from your living room to your home office. Calculate how much you spend just on transportation currently just to get to your outside job. You may be surprised at how much you can save by working from home.

Be Your Own Boss

When you decide to make the transition from an outside or corporate job to the fun, excitement and challenge of making money online, a significant benefit that you gain is the ability to be your own boss. If you are the type of person who chafes under the restrictions of answering to demands of a supervisor or manager–no matter how legitimate, this quality of working for your own business may be the best loved feature of all.

Income Level

Another nice feature about making money online is that you can essentially adjust your work so that you work as long as you want to in order to bring your income to the level that you need to enjoy life. Mistakes Companies Make When Using Branded Sunglasses

There is something that just about everyone loves. It’s something that everyone has worn at one time or another, usually when the sun is especially bright or when they are laying on the beach somewhere. It’s something that companies are using more and more in their advertising. They are using this item because they know that it’s something that people are going to use, and when they use it they are going to advertise their company. This item is sunglasses, and they are something that companies have found to be a great promotional item.

But there are some mistakes that companies make when it comes to using branded Sunglasses. Here are the mistakes that companies have made so when they are using branded Sunglasses to promote their business that you can avoid making them.

Buying just one type

One of the biggest mistakes that companies make when it comes to branded Sunglasses is that they buy just one type of branded Sunglasses. They don’t take into consideration that they may be giving the Sunglasses to people who may not like the style or who may not be able to wear that type of branded Sunglasses. Companies should buy different types of branded Sunglasses so that they are going to have Sunglasses that fit anyone.

Buying the cheapest

Another mistake that companies make when they are buying branded Sunglasses is that they buy the cheapest branded Sunglasses that they can find. But what happens when you buy the cheapest of anything? A lot of times those items are the ones that are more likely to break and and aren’t going to last as long. The cheapest isn’t always the best. In fact, companies are finding that they have better results with branded Sunglasses if they choose better quality branded Sunglasses.

Buying the same for everyone

A third mistake that people make when they are ordering branded Sunglasses is that they don’t buy the nicer branded Sunglasses that they are giving to employees or clients. It’s important to remember that employees and clients are different than the people that you are going to meet at trade shows and conventions. They are people who deserve recognition and appreciation for what they have done for the company and they deserve better quality branded Sunglasses.

Buying all one colour

The last mistake that people make when they are ordering branded Sunglasses is that they are ordering all one colour of sunglasses. One of the things that a company should do is they should order different colours of sunglasses so that people have a choice instead of being forced to choose whatever colour the company has chosen.

Branded Sunglasses are a great promotional item and companies have had some good results with them, but there are also people that have made mistakes that have made the branded Sunglasses that they chose not as effective. Help People Have Safe Fun in the Sun With Promotional Sun Protection

With the way that the ozone layer is, a lot of people are becoming more conscious about the way that they treat their skin. They try to stay out of the sun and when they are outside they use protection. Skin cancer is something that is avoidable if people take care of themselves and don’t expose their skin to a lot of sun.

Because of the breaking down of the ozone layer, a lot of companies are starting to offer promotional sun protection to show that they want to protect their employees, clients and customers from the horrible affects of sun damage and skin cancer. If your company is thinking of using promotional sun protection to promote your business, here are some suggestions.

Don’t just distribute it in summer

One of the first things that people think about when they hear the words sun protection is the summertime, but summer isn’t the only time that a person can get a sunburn. It’s true that more of the skin is exposed during the summer, but you can also get a very nasty sunburn when you are skiing in the winter time. So have your company distribute your promotional sun protection during the winter as well as summer, right before the ski season starts.

Give it as part of a promotional package

Instead of just giving them promotional sun protection, why not give them other promotional items as well? This is especially a good idea if you are giving the promotional sun protection to a client or an employee.

For example, if you are giving them the promotional sun protection in the winter time, you can give it to them as part of a ski package – include the promotional sun protection

in a package that has a ski hat and a ski pass holder.

If you are giving them the promotional sun protection as a part of something for the summertime, you can give them the promotional sun protection along with sunglasses, sandals and a beach ball.

Don’t forget the lips

Another thing that people do when they are distributing promotional sun protection is that they simply give people the sun protection that is going to be used for their body. But lips are another part of the body that can get sunburned, so give them promotional sun protection for both their body and for their lips.

Get a variety

The last thing that a company should do when they are buying promotional sun protection is that they should get a variety of different types of promotional sun protection. Get different strengths and make sure that you have something that is going to work for everyone that may use it.

Offering people promotional sun protection is a great idea, no matter what time of year it is. Promotional sun protection is something that can be given to people by itself or as part of a package. But no matter how you give it to people, it’s going to show that both you and the company care.
